Isaiah 40:21-26 – The Timeless Message
The message the prophet proclaims has not changed for thousands of years. It is really, really clear that the Creator of this earth has come to visit His people. He came as LORD, with great power and authority. He came to show is authority over the created order, over this world’s leaders, over this world’s enemy. And He passed all of the tests. He came, He conquered, He prevailed, just as was predicted hundreds of years before. These things happened.
So the question is not so much the proof, but the belief. The evidence is overwhelming. The open question is belief in spite of the disparity between what they saw and the truth. He didn’t look any different from the rest of us. He didn’t stand out in a crowd. So, it takes faith to believe that this is true about Him.
So as you gather as family and friends, take the time to contemplate the crucial questions about Jesus. I find it noteworthy that the questions were written down hundreds of years before He came, and yet they hit the issue bullseye:
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
The signs were clear, the virgin gave birth to a son. This much we know. But was He Immanuel, God with us? Was He the promised son of David? Did He rule over His Father’s kingdom? Is He still ruling today? Is He ruling with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever, just as the prophets foretold? You must answer those questions for yourself. No one can answer for you. Just know that your eternal destiny will hinge on how you answer those questions in your heart. Amen?
